Heavy drinkers are more likely to experience this interruption, with studies showing 50% of heavy drinkers affected compared to 20% of non-drinkers. Heavy alcohol use is also linked to smaller testicular size. Consuming more than 14 drinks per week can significantly reduce both testosterone and sperm count.

Reducing or quitting alcohol can help reverse testicular damage. Research participants who stopped drinking after 30 days of heavy consumption saw their testosterone levels return to normal quickly.
